The Awareness Module for Unicast, Groupcast, and Outcast

project summary

This project, done in conjunction with Accenture Technology Labs makes use of ubiquitous peripheral displays to foster awareness between co-workers. In a large office or lab environment, it is often the case that co-workers are unaware of others' projects and undertakings. The goal of this project was to provide a forum through which co-workers could share and access this information, to the extent to which they wanted. Large displays in public spaces were used to display blurbs about the projects, commercializations, ventures, and conference activities of members of the group. Passerby can then interact with the display to get more detailed information, swipe their ID badges at a card reader to have the full text of the document emailed to them to read at their leisure, simply read the blurb, or ignore it.
